I would like to urge to those few who have got through legitimate companies to kindly list them here so that others like me could be benefited. As is the case with others, I too am running out of time due to OPT validity period, but I would never want to ruin my career by joining a desi consultant. I will be happy, if someone wants to contact me via my mail Id too. Thanks a ton in advance.

Hi I am also on OPT after graduation. I tried to hold on and apply to legitimate companies for entry level positions. But due to OPT validity period I have no other option but to take up a job with consultants. I am interested in embedded systems but since that is hard to find, could anyone give some info on good consultants (if possible e-verified) for OPT students.

I agree with Helper's comments that all these goolti companies want to take advantage of you. Currently, the job market is very tough. Most employers are scared to employ permanent full time employees due to the recessionary climate. On the other hand there are lots of contract jobs because employers dont have to pay benefits or show more employees on their payroll. But due to our H1-B visa problem we're stuck using a goolti consultancy if we want to go contracting. I'm in the job market myself and am resisting joining a goolti consultancy. But the other option is going home to India and with my student loan $$ it is a tough decision to take. So, what decision one takes is on personal circumstances but my two cents here are if you're joining a goolti consultancy, preferably speak with a few people who work with the company. Get a feel of it, keep your eyes open and hope you are lucky enough to find a good one.

Guys,
We all know most of Desi consulting companies are just there to take advantage of the inexperienced folks. Why in
the world would you seek out these companies to work with? There are hundreds of legitimate companies that are looking
to hire entry level positions and are willing to do H1s etc.
I remember, right out of school, in 2002, market was really bad and my roommate at that time, opted to take the easy
route and work for Macro Consultings in Newark, NJ. They took advantage of him. They faked his resume and whole bunch of
other things!! WHY would you want to start your career with a lie? Please remember that the professional consulting
world is real small and you will have to face the truth.
I am not looking down on anyone, but PLEASE stay away from all these Goolti consulting companies and look for entry
level positions in real companies. You will be surprised how many companies are hiring (yes, even in this economy!) and
how many are willing to do the Immigration/H1 process!!
Please open your job search scope, reach out to some recruiters, search Monster and CareerBuilder! You will find the
job! DO NOT make these blood sucking leeches rich on your hard work!!
I am sorry If I offended someone with my comments but my ex-roommate is still working for these consulting companies as
they have kept him pinned down!!
